His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswami, a revered spiritual leader, is the 24th pontiff of Sri Suttur Math. This sacred institution, established in the 10th century in Suttur, Mysuru District, Karnataka, India, has been a guiding light for countless souls on their spiritual paths.

In 1986, at the remarkable age of 29, the Swamiji stepped into his noble role as the pontiff of Sri Suttur Math. His ascension to the position of Peetha was a testament to his unwavering dedication and spiritual prowess. Amidst the rich historical legacy of the Math, His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswami embarked on a profound journey of leadership and enlightenment with humility and grace.

Before assuming the esteemed position, the Swamiji received rigorous training under the guidance of his predecessor, His Holiness Jagadguru Dr. Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswami. A guiding principle of these institutions is to provide value based education by giving importance to overall development of an individual through state-of-art facilities and prepare to become contributing citizens. Majority of the institutions have collaborations with majoruniversities, and industrial and research organizations within and outside India (USA, UK, Australia, Ukraine, Finland, Japan, France, Italy, Singapore, Malaysia, etc.,) for many of their formal programs.

EFFORTS FOR THE ECONOMICALLY DEPRIVED
MEMBERS OF THE SOCIETY

Following are the various educational institutions established by his HH Mahaswamiji in rural parts of India to support financially disadvantaged members of the society.

Free Education School
With a vision to provide contemporary education to the economically deprived section of the society, His Holiness has dedicated a Free residential school at Suttur for the benefit of 5000 children irrespective of caste and creed coming from different provinces of Karnataka and Tamilnadu. The school provides all modern facilities to children with an investment of Rs.15 crores. This unique institution has drawn national attention and was inaugurated by late Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, the President of India in 2003.
Schools for special needs children

His Holiness put into practice the dreams of his mentor/guru Dr.Rajendra Swamiji of providing knowledge base for the physically and mentally challenged persons by establishing following dedicated schools

Dasoha
The philosophy of Veerashaivism strongly believes in Dasoha, “Giving to the needy.” True to its philosophy, HH Mahaswamiji practices this philosophy every moment.

62 schools covering 10,000 children of Yelandur Taluk (backward taluk of Chamarajanagar district) are provided free mid-day meals every day.eals are provided to more than 5000 children free of cost in free hostels run by the JSS Math in Sutturunder the direct guidance of His Holiness.
Mass Wedding/Collective Wedding
To overcome the stress of wedding cost to the economically disadvantaged families, the Math organizes collective weddings/mass weddings of more than 200 couples. The mass weddings are conducted each month and annually at the Jathra.
Health Services

Under the guidance of HH Mahaswamiji, the Math has established JSS Medical Services Trust to provide healthcare facilities tomiddle and lowincome families.

Agri-based services to the farming community

His Holiness has established a Krishi Vignana Kendra with Indian Council of  Agriculture Research to support farmers through activities like vemiculture (with
the assistance Center for Aquatic Plant Research Technology and Infrasys). Central facilities for soil testing and online field demonstrations are established. Under Swaranjayanthi Gram Swarojagar Yojana a program of Rs.15 crores with the assistance of Govt. of India and Govt. of Karnataka, was initiated with an objective to;

PROMOTION OF ART AND CULTURE

HH Mahaswamiji has started many initiatives to restore the treasures of Indian culture and artto preserve and encourage the next generationyoungstersto take interest in the art and culture.

With an effort to bridge the gap between east and west (spiritualism andmaterialism), His Holiness has travelled abroad numerous times to organize/attend (on invitation) various international workshops/seminars and conferences on spiritual and contemporary topics. Some of the countries visited include the UK, USA, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Singapore, Dubai and many other European countries. Recently he has been instrumental in establishing a full-fledged Spiritual Mission at USA and educational institutions at Mauritius and Dubai.
