JSS Hospital, Mysuru
To provide quality health and medical care services to the poor, His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji established a Health Care Centre in Mysuru, in the year 1963. It was being run under the JSS Medical Service Trust, which is a sister organization of JSS Mahavidyapeetha. Today, this health centre has grown into a 1,200-bed hospital. The hospital also serves as a teaching hospital for JSS Medical College. The hospital caters to the patients who come from Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Mandya, Hassan Districts, as well as Nilgiri’s district of Tamilnadu.
All departments of the hospital have state-of-the-art equipment, with experienced doctors and nursing staff. The hospital has 18 major departments, out of which 8 departments provide very good treatment.
Supportive labs have been set up for accurate diagnosis and facilities for carrying out all kinds of examinations and tests are available. The hospital also has a 24-hour emergency treatment department. The outpatient department of JSS Hospital caters to 925 to 950 people on an average, every day. During the year under report, a total number of 3,38,355 outpatients and 37,411 in-patients were treated in various departments. The hospital conducted 27,891 operations. The number of patients treated as inpatients in private wards is 6,660 in and 3,696 surgeries were conducted.
The hospital provides free medical facilities to deserving poor patients. Medical facilities are provided to employees of government and private organizations under the credit scheme. 27 organizations have made use of this facility.
During the year under report, 11,30,789 diagnostic tests were conducted on patients refereed by different departments of the hospital. On Founder’s Day, artificial limbs were distributed to 22 differently-abled people free of cost, by ASARE Group of Engineers and Sri Shivarathreeshwara Women’s Society. On the same occasion, M/s. Forus Health Ltd., donated a device called Trinetra to the Ophthalmology Department of the hospital. Expert doctors, nurses and technicians of the hospital took part in several health camps organized in response to the requests made by various organizations, sister organizations of JSSMVP and the public. During the annual birth anniversary celebrations of Adi Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Bhagawathpadaru and also during other fairs organized in Suttur and other areas, the hospital provides free medical camps wherein the doctors volunteer to treat the patients.
During the year, several blood camps were organized at the request of various organizations, public and other units of JSS. In association with the District Blindness Control Society, the hospital carried out eye examinations in several villages to detect cataract and free surgeries were performed for needy patients. During the year 2011-12, about 59 health camps were conducted including 17 blood camps, 26 eye checkup camps and 16 health camps.
Yashaswini Programme: The hospital provided medical treatment to rural families under the Karnataka Government’s health programme Yashaswini, on a priority basis.
Eighty percent of the civil works of the Rs. 400 crore, 1,800-bedded new JSS Hospital is completed.
During the year under report Rs. 2,977.17 lakhs of recurring expenditure and Rs. 8,056.97 lakhs of non-recurring expenditure were incurred.
JSS Hospital, Chamarajanagar
JSS Hospital, Chamarajanagar is yet another addition to the wide array of healthcare service centres established by JSS Math and JSSMVP. The vision of His Holiness Jagadugur Dr. Sri Rajendra Swamiji, who initially established a primary health centre in Mysuru, in the 1970s, with the motto of providing affordable healthcare to the needy, has traversed a long distance over the years. JSS Hospital, Mysuru, has the distinction of being one of the largest high tech health care facilities in the entire country. The combined bed strength of all JSS Hospitals, including Ayurveda and Naturopathy, today stand at more than 2,000 and the new JSS Hospital, Chamarajanagar will further expand the vision and reach of JSS healthcare facilities.
JSS Hospital, Chamarajanagar aims to provide the people of Chamarajanagara and surrounding taluks and regions, the most advanced and personalized healthcare services. The hospital comprises state-of-the-art operation theatres, diagnostic facilities, sp and other support services.
While some of the services such as OPD consultations are provided free of cost, other services will be provided at affordable and concessional rates in keeping with the founders’ philosophy of reaching out to the poor and needy.
JSS Ayurveda Hospital, Mysuru
This hospital was established in the year 1992, opposite to the JSS Hospital premises on M. G. Road. It was shifted to the newly constructed building, located on Lalithadri Road in Alanahalli Layout on 14-04-2011. It serves as a teaching hospital for JSS Ayurveda Medical College.
It is a 195-bed hospital, with 55 staff, including doctors and nurses. Treatments were provided to 16,699 outpatients and 1,322 in-patients. 60 surgeries were performed. The paediatrics department of the hospital runs an ayurvedic immunization programme called ‘Svarna Prashana’ (for building immunity in newly born babies and up to 14 year old children) on the day of Pushya Nakshatra every month, in 14 centers. During the year, 7,041 children benefitted from this programme. The hospital conducted 34 medical camps and 3,655 people benefitted from these camps. The recurring expenditure during the year was Rs. 114.70 lakhs and non-recurring expenditure was Rs. 66.33 lakhs.
JSS Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences Hospital, Coimbatore
Many patients suffering from long term ailments from India and abroad visited the hospital for treatment. The hospital conducted free health camps to spread awareness on Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences. Many specialists and advisors from national and international organizations visited the hospital.
The hospital was established in Ooty, Tamilnadu, in 1997. It was shifted to the newly constructed building in Coimbatore, Tamilnadu, on 24-11-2012. It serves as the teaching hospital for the students of JSS Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences College, Coimbatore. The hospital had 30 beds and 2 doctors and 4 treatment attendees during the year under report.

Poor Patient’s Fund
Majority of patients coming for treatment to JSS hospital are poor, hailing from villages. The hospital has created a “Poor Patient’s Fund” to help the poor patients. Donations are collected from staff of JSS hospital, allied institutions, general public and philanthropists. The fund is used to meet the treatment expenses of poor patients. This apart, the hospital also offers discounts/concessions in the total treatment charges to deserving patients.
