To provide quality health and medical care services to the poor, His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji established a Health Care Centre in Mysuru, in the year 1963. It was being run under the JSS Medical Service Trust, which is a sister organization of JSS Mahavidyapeetha. Today, this health centre has grown into a 1,800-bed hospital. The hospital also serves as a teaching hospital for JSS Medical College. The hospital caters to the patients who come from Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Mandya, Hassan Districts, as well as Nilgiri’s district of Tamilnadu.
All departments of the hospital have state-of-the-art equipment, with experienced doctors and nursing staff. The hospital has 18 major departments, out of which 8 departments provide very good treatment.
Supportive labs have been set up for accurate diagnosis and facilities for carrying out all kinds of examinations and tests are available. The hospital also has a 24-hour emergency treatment department. The outpatient department of JSS Hospital caters to 925 to 950 people on an average, every day. During the year under report, a total number of 3,38,355 outpatients and 37,411 in-patients were treated in various departments. The hospital conducted 27,891 operations. The number of patients treated as inpatients in private wards is 6,660 in and 3,696 surgeries were conducted.
The hospital provides free medical facilities to deserving poor patients. Medical facilities are provided to employees of government and private organizations under the credit scheme. 27 organizations have made use of this facility.
