God Nandi

Who is Nandi All of us know, that he is the mount of Lord Shiva, and when the Lord dances he plays the Mridangam (Maddale).  He has an acute sense of rhythm, and is well versed in music. Nandiswara is humility personified. He is very knowledgeable too, and, has taught the world the secrets of Vedas and lessons in all humility!
The close association of Shiva and Nandi explains the presence of a statue of Nandi at the gate of sanctum sanctorum of Shiva temples. It is important to seek the blessings of Nandi before proceeding to worship Lord Shiva. Nandi leads the Shiva Ganas, Shiva's attendants. Nandi is Shiva's foremost disciple .
